Roots of the Forum

smiley faceThe prerequisites are to be an unmarried Sabbatarian and to leave your disenchantment at the door!

The forum began in the Summer of 1997 when I found myself single again. I found that there were so many singles in the Body of Christ scattered around the world with no apparent way to connect. There is a newsletter and website maintained by Mike K in California, and a "snail mail" list maintained by one of the SSFF forum members for people who don't have email; but I was already on a forum and enjoy sending emails to people in my spare time. I had a couple of friends, including Robert T, help me get the technical side set up, and since that time we've grown to have many members. The most recent web site was developed by a long time member from the UK, David K, or “King David” as he is fondly known.

The purpose of the SSFF forum is to bring together singles of "like minds" who believe in the 7th day Sabbath as being a "shadow" of the Sabbath rest that is to come when God's Kingdom is set up on this earth. We do not believe we are in our Sabbath rest at this point. We do believe that Jesus Christ, our Savior, is the Son of God, and is returning to this earth a second time.

The SSFF is a warm, friendly place to talk about a variety of topics from scripture, to outrageous jokes to serious prayer requests. The forum is not intended to be a religious debate forum, although doctrinal issues do arise from time to time. The intent of the SSFF is to get to know each other as true brothers and sisters in the Faith once delivered. The setting is as if we are in the Living Room of our Father, so open debate about controversial subjects is not encouraged.

Requirements?

We have a minimum age requirement of 18-years-old. This works because of the variety of discussions on the forum. There is a little bit of something for everyone. The forum is designed to provide a place for unmarried people, of the various Sabbath-keeping Churches of God, to come together to discuss relevant issues confronting their roles, trials and joys in the church today, as well as share with others inspiration, encouragement and ideas.

We don't believe that any one corporate organization solely composes the Church of God, but that each organization, or individual, with God's Holy Spirit is a member of the Body, and as such joint heirs of the Kingdom of God. We believe that God has placed each one of us in His Body as He has seen fit, therefore we believe that we are all equal under God's eyes, with the same vision of the coming Kingdom of God.

This forum is not an official production of any of the Churches of God, nor is it intended to be a means for proselytizing for any of the Churches of God, or any individual's own "new truths". This forum is open to all Sabbath-keeping members of the Churches of God, regardless of affiliation. This statement is not meant to exclude those that don't participate with any organized Church of God.

The SSFF forum members abide by the principal laid down in Titus 3:9 (NIV). "But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies, and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless."

This forum is founded on the principles of mutual respect for others, and their opinions. This mutual respect is not contingent upon one's agreement with the opinions of others, but upon the principles laid down by the word of God: "Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than themselves" (Phil 2:3 KJV).

To Join the SSFF Forum

If you are interested in joining, you can sign up via the Contact Page, and always stop the email if you feel it is not right for you at this time in your life. You will need to supply your first and last name, birthdate (which will be kept confidential), and some idea of how you are affiliated with the Churches of God.

Visions

My vision for creating the forum still stands true today. I see the forum and this web site as a small beginning in creating a "web" of unmarried Sabbatarians who support each other as brother and sister in our Walk with God.

Walking in His Love,

Marla Prouty, SSFF Moderator
